Underfloor heating is an excellent choice for people who value comfort and simplicity. This type of heating is considered the healthiest because it guarantees an even temperature distribution in the interior. Contrary to traditional wall heaters, a modern underfloor heating system, thanks to the low heating temperature, does not circulate air in the room. It is very valuable, especially for allergy sufferers. Another advantage of surface heating in the floor is pleasant warmth for our feet, e.g. when we come out of the shower. One more question remains to be considered: the question of whether we will be able to put a carpet on such a floor? Textile enthusiasts in interiors breathe a sigh of relief in fashion: underfloor heating absolutely does not exclude the possibility of using rugs and carpets. What's more, thanks to this combination, we can obtain the effect of a warm and soft floor, on which we will be happy to walk barefoot.

Can I use a carpet over underfloor heating?

If you want to lay a carpet on a heated floor, choose a model with a flexible underlay that tolerates temperature changes well. Runners with felt or jute base are perfect for this role. In the case of underfloor heating, rubber or sponge rugs are not recommended. Is it possible to cover the warm floor with bathroom rugs at all? Maybe you have to make a choice: underfloor heating versus carpet? We are in a hurry with the answer: there are no contraindications not to use the floor in a bathroom heated in this way small rugs. Which carpet for underfloor heating is the best?

When buying a carpet for underfloor heating, we have to choose the right product. Not every copy will be suitable for a heated floor. Information on this can be found on the label or technical sheet of the product - it is necessary to check it before buying. If we are unable to find the necessary parameters, then it is best to ask the seller for help. Dedicated carpets for underfloor heating have a special marking in the form of a pictogram allowing such use. As for the raw material from which the fabric is made, there are no restrictions in this regard. Both synthetic carpets and models made of natural fibers can be used on the heated floor. The most important parameters that you should pay attention to when choosing bathroom rug, is the thermal resistance R (it should not exceed 0,17 K / W) and the weight of the fleece (it cannot exceed 2 kg / m2). It should be remembered that the lower the thermal resistance of the material, the better it conducts heat, and thus the underfloor heating will work more efficiently. The density and height of the fleece are also very important. The denser and higher the bristles, the slower the heat will penetrate into the room. Therefore, it is best to choose a rug with a compact structure, with thin and low pile.
