You have a dog? Find out which carpet will work in a house inhabited by pets

Do you love dogs and you cannot imagine a home without a four-legged friend? You love cozy interiors and a covered floor soft carpet? Fortunately, these preferences don't have to be mutually exclusive. We advise you on how to choose a carpet for the house where the dog lives.

To say that Poles love dogs is to say nothing. We are definitely in the lead in Europe when it comes to the number of pets: as many as every fifth of us has a four-legged friend, and many dogs live in many houses. This means that a fairly large group of people not only enjoy the walks and the dog's joy when they return home, but also struggle with such problems as hair all over the apartment, traces of dirty dogs' paws, sand brought to the house and other dirt, which - unfortunately - are associated with having a dog. In order to minimize the difficulties it entails, it is important to choose carpets for your home carefully. What to look for when buying

Easy to vacuum carpet

Having a dog, we have to focus on regular cleaning, vacuuming and cleaning of floors and carpets. Therefore, it is worth choosing a rug that has a rather short pile. It will be much easier to remove dog hair and other impurities brought on by your pet. Fashionable now Scandinavian style carpets often are flat woven - they are perfect even for dogs with thick and long hair, because the fur will stay on the surface and will not get tangled in the fleece of the carpet. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to combine a love of dogs and fluffy long-haired rugs ... If you really dream of shaggy style rug, choose a room where your pet stays as little as possible.

Synthetic or natural carpet?

Gray Classic Rug - STONE 9148 - arrangement
Classic Yellow Rug - SPRING MOSS 9145 - arrangement
Green Classic Carpet - MAJESTIC FOREST 9146 - arrangement

This is one of the most important questions that everyone who plans to buy a carpet has to answer. Each of these options, of course, has its advantages and disadvantages. Synthetic carpets are definitely cheaper, they are also distinguished by much richer colors, which is why they are often chosen for modern interiors. They are considered a good solution for allergy sufferers who are sometimes allergic to natural wool. Natural carpetsalthough more expensive, they are considered more stylish. This is a real classic that will be bought for years. They are also much more pleasant to touch and insulate better than the floor, providing pleasant warmth.

For dog owners, however, another difference will be the most important. The labels of synthetic carpets usually contain information that they cannot be washed in water or wet cleaned - this is because they absorb water very easily and soak it up. In the case of carpets made of natural fibers, I have such contraindications - just remember not to clean the woolen carpet with hot water, because it can lead to felting and destruction of the fleece. For this reason, a natural rug will be a much better choice for dog owners. Having a pet at home, we must take into account the necessity to thoroughly clean the carpet much more often. Mud residue, hair, dog saliva… that's just some of the reasons. Every dog owner knows very well that a pet has various types of stomach ailments, which result in serious contamination and stains on the carpet and floor. Water with properly selected detergents will allow you to quickly and efficiently remove even difficult stains. Thanks to regular wet cleaning, we will also solve the problem of possible unpleasant odors. It is also worth remembering that wool has bactericidal properties, which in the case of a house inhabited by animals is an additional advantage.

The color scheme also matters

Owners of dogs with thick, long hair know the feeling of irritation that appears when the first fluff of fur is visible in the middle of the carpet a moment after cleaning and hiding the vacuum cleaner in the middle of the carpet ... Therefore, it is worth choosing a carpet on which contamination will be as little visible as possible. What does it mean? First of all, the colors that best match the color of your pet's coat. A patterned rug is a good idea, as any dirt will be less noticeable. Classic carpet with oriental patterns it will hit the spot, as will various types of floral and geometric motifs. Plain, a bright carpet, although it looks interesting, unfortunately it will not work in the house where the dog lives.
