What carpet to buy
The right rug can add character to an interior, while the wrong choice of floor covering can ruin the beauty of a room. So how to choose the right rug that, apart from its aesthetic value, will also emphasize the unique look of the room?
The most common mistake when starting to decorate a room is to focus on the color of the walls, the type of furniture, and the choice of accessories. We usually leave the decision about the carpet at the end.
Isn't it a mistake?
It is certainly worth taking a closer look at this important design element in order to be able to effectively influence the style of the entire interior?
FOCUS ON THE COLOR FIRST
It is necessary to take into account the purpose of the room. A very light carpet located in the entrance hall or in the dining room will be a guest of the laundry room more often than on our floor.
IT'S TIME TO CHOOSE A PATTERN
We can choose from several materials, each of which has different features.
Wool rugs are usually fleece rugs, which are durable and flexible, thanks to which the rug is not subject to permanent deformation. In addition, it is also worth mentioning the anti-electrostatic properties and high hygroscopicity of the material, which is wool.
Cotton carpets, woven flat, have a low fleece, thanks to which it is easy to care for their cleanliness on a daily basis. This results in high resistance to deformation and dents. A special type of cotton is chenille, which is woven from three individual cotton fibers, which makes it extremely soft and resilient.
Here it is worth sticking to the general rules that will protect us from committing mistakes that disturb the aesthetics of the room.
At least 2 legs of the sofa and armchairs should be on the carpet. A carpet that only takes up space under the table looks too small and does not fit into the interior.
It is also very important to take into account the radius of the door opening in the room with the carpet (usually it is approx. 90 cm deep into the room) to allow them to open freely. This is especially true for high pile carpets. However, such a limitation will not occur in the case of carpets with low fleece, which will fit easily under the door.
Carpet and textiles are very mobile and relatively cheap elements (compared, for example, to the cost of furniture). That is why designers recommend neutral style and colors of the interior to people who appreciate frequent changes to the interior. The role of building the character of the room is then transferred to textiles. In such a situation, rearranging the interior will only be a matter of replacing the carpet, curtains and curtains or small decorations.
